12. Clybucca to Raymond Tce

Stayed: Raymond Tce
Bluehaven Caravan Park - DODGEVILLE

We left fairly early from the roadhouse, again with big intentions, however we only got 45km down the road and stopped at South West Rocks for breakfast. We heard about this place and Trail Bay Gaol so we thought we should check it out.

We arrived before it opened so had our breakfast in the carpark and looked around.

Trail Bay Gaol was awesome. $20 for a family and well worth the money. There was a lot of interesting facts to read. Although the kids didn’t really appreciate the reading we made Rhys the “tour guide” and he was left in charge of the map, guiding us around and telling us what was what. It was really good. Got some great photos of the place and it is amazing to see what they could build over 100 years ago.

We left Trial Bay a couple hours later... got another 85km down the road and stopped at Port Macquarie for lunch. Strict instructions “we are not stopping here long, we are not going fishing...” We went to Woolies and grabbed a couple of groceries and headed off to the park, along the waterfront, to have lunch. After seeing a man fishing and catch one, we couldn’t resist! So out came the rods and tackle and we, the boys and I, had a fish. We all caught a fish however they were all so tiny so we threw them back.

We left again and got as far as Raymond Terrace – DODGEVILLE!

Holy crap I thought I was going to have to sleep with a gun under my pillow, except I don’t have one.

We were going to park the van and head into Newcastle for a look but I was too scared to leave the caravan. There were surveillance cameras everywhere and owned by muslins (not that I am racist).
