5. Brisbane

Stayed: Dayboro

Sonya’s House – Family

We left Gin Gin by 6am with our sights and tummies set on Augy Sauer’s pies for breaky at Maryborough. We arrived bright and early in the morning to find the shop had been closed down after 91 years of operation L So we bought pies at another local bakery and departed.

Toying between Kenilworth Cheese Factory and swimming at Kings Beach I convinced Rod to go to the beach – thinking it would be a better option for the kids. WELL, Caloundra is not caravan friendly. Stop signs at the top of hill, roundabouts on a lean, no car parks – we left and headed for Caboolture.

Stopped in to see Damian’s new house. Good to see before the renovations begin. Definitely needs some loving but will scrub up nicely.

Arrived at Dayboro. Shelby and Cooper loved having the boys to play with and loved Puddy. Had a lovely webber for dinner and enjoyed watching Clinton, Rod and the kids play cricket and Sonya have a few wines.

SUNDAY

On the Sunday Damian picked up Danyel and Emmalea and met us out at Leigh and Margaret’s for a typical Phair feed! OMG I couldn’t move for the rest of the day and night. The kids were very well behaved swimming in the pool, hanging out at the dam and hanging out with each other. Was good to keep Leigh up to date with all the goss! LOL

We returned to Sonya’s after that and Vanessa came out and we caught up. She left after dinner and Sonya and I stayed up, yet again, chatting – late nights are not good for me.

MONDAY

First day of preppie for Cooper. Very exciting time and very happy to share this time with him and Shelby off to Kindy. They looked very cute.

Stayed: Birkdale

Mum & Dad's House

We left Dayboro and headed for Mum and Dad’s house arriving in time for a coffee and morning tea!

Sorted a little bit of stuff out (a new 12V shower), went to EB Games as the boys were annoying us for days to go, went up and saw Pop and had a quick look at Saralee Factory and Golden Circle –VERY DANGEROUS!!

Lasagne and vegetables for dinner tonight.

We stayed in Brisbane for a week, visiting Pop in hospital. Sadly on Saturday 28th January Pop passed away. At 86 he had an amazing life and wanted nothing from anyone.

During the week Nana and Grandad took us out to dinner – Vietnamese. It was devine. They also took the boys bowling, a tradition. Remind me next time to NEVER do this again. The boys were either fighting or crying or complaining the lanes were rigged...

We tried for a quick fish down at Wellington Point but the rain put a damper on that.

Another visit to Golden Circle and the Fruit Markets and I was wishing I was living back in Brisbane. Oh I miss the cheap food.

We headed off from Brisbane, heading for somewhere south.
