3. Clairview to Rockhampton

Stayed: Clairview free camp spot.
Located right on the beach 50m from the rail line and main road. Noises from these didn't bother me, it was people pulling into the camp spot that were noisy. Basic facilities, toilets and small playground suitable for under 5s. The beach was nice however in front of free camp was not great fishing as there were many rocks. The midgies killed us in the morning.

We stopped at Clairview late afternoon, the tide was half in. What a lovely spot on the beach, free camp. We had some people pull up beside us and after a yummy spaghetti bol for dinner we chatted with them (Darryl & Jan).

Not a great night sleep with people coming and going during the night and my paranoia.

Stayed: Sammy's House

We departed Clairview early, by 7am, headed for Rockhampton. We decided to detour via Yeppoon and Emu Park to see what it was like out there.

Yeppoon was beautiful, I didn’t realise there were so many islands off the coast. We sat on the esplanade while Mitchell went for a fish and Rhys rode his rip stick. I went for a quick walk along the esplanade.

We left there and went the scenic route via Emu Park – Rodney was expecting to see Emus.

We parked up at the waterfront again and had lunch. I was hanging for a cold drink and when the boys returned from the IGA bragging about what a great deal they got, there had to be a catch. The softdrink they got was hot!

Left Emu Park and headed for Rockhampton.

Thank goodness Sammy’s neighbours are nice and allow her access to her pool anytime – that’s where we went for a good couple of hours. Rocky was hot.

A nice bbq for dinner and chat and off to bed.
