7. Brunswick Heads to Ballina

Stayed: Ballina

Hibiscus Caravan Park, 2 nights

Travelling through the rolling hills of Byron Bay Hinterland was gorgeous. What beautiful countryside.

Our first stop in Ballina was the RV place, to take a look at our fridge. We booked it in the for the next day and headed off to our caravan park.

We checked in at Hibiscus Caravan Park... cheap, yes, dodgy, yes. But it had what we needed, power, hot showers, pool, cheap. At $35/night, compared to $63, we were not going to complain. We had a swim, because yes it WAS hot. Chilled out a bit, went to the shops for a look, Rod took the boys fishing and not much else. Off to bed.

We had to drop off the caravan so packed everything up early and headed off. We then drove around sightseeing. Came across a water park place – too bloody cold to think about that today. The rain had returned. Saw a look out, a lighthouse made in 1866, lots of old head stones which dated back to 1800s, beaches, random houses, awesome skate parks and playgrounds and lots of walking tracks. We tried to get photos in between the showers of rain.

We picked up the van and came back to the caravan park and set up again. While I updated all the photos and blogs etc Rod got the rods ready with the kids, ready to go fishing again. Caught nothing but a lovely young fella gave us a big handful of salmon fillets! Awesome.

After prying the icicles off our bodies (well my body I was sure) we returned to get dinner ready and have long hot showers.

The next morning we were to pack up and depart Ballina for Brisbane, via Byron Bay. However, Puddy was missing L This was TERRIBLE. We searched from 6am to 10am. We were frantic. However, not to waste time, thinking she would return we decided to leave the van there and drive up to Byron Bay for a visit.

Byron was beautiful, however, thinking we were just going there and straight back I didn’t pack any food, clothes or towels. Silly me. But that didn’t stop Rod from trying to “fit in” and take his top off. Prancing around perving he took the boys for a swim; disgusted that so many girls’ tops kept falling off in the surf.

We returned to Ballina and still no Puddy. However we had to leave for Brisbane so we made a heap of flyers, put an ad in the paper and walked around to just about every caravan.
